NFT (nutrient film technique) is currently the most popular method of hydroponic growing, due to its simplicity and great yield results. In NFT, nutrients are added to water, and this nutrient-rich solution is contained in a tank. Plants sit on a growing tray above this tank, and the solution is constantly pumped up through the grow tray…flowing over the roots of the plants to provide them with all the water, nutrients and oxygen required for healthy and highly-productive yields.
Combining NFT with aquaculture, Eden AquaPonics is now offering a “best of both worlds” growing environment… eliminating the need for added nutrients (the fish from the aquaponics create the necessary nutrient-rich water), this self-cleansing, closed-loop system creates the perfect “bio-sphere” for healthy, organic produce. And, aquaponics reduces water usage, as the system does not require continual water change-outs.
